During these evolving times, we hope you are taking care of yourselves and that our students and families have access to resources and supports as needed. This is a time of great uncertainty for all of us and we know you have a lot of questions.
Manor ISD is monitoring new information from state and local officials. Governor Greg Abbott issued a new Executive Order, effectively closing schools statewide for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year. Under that order, Manor ISD campuses will remain closed for the foreseeable future, but we will continue our e-Learning and distance learning academics. The last day of school for MISD will be May 22nd, 2020 and students will continue to learn from home through that day.
We know that many of our MISD families depend on these services and are making our best efforts to continue to provide these supports.
Our e-Learning site is also available on our website and has a variety of lesson plans available for all of our grade levels.
We recognize that you are trying to make plans for your family and ask for your understanding as we face this unprecedented situation together. We truly appreciate and thank you for your patience.
Manor Isd Statement on Racism
Manor ISD will not be silent, nor stand idle while Black students and families are hurting, and students, families, and staff of all nationalities are hurting along with their friends, family, and community members. We are committed to ensuring all students feel heard, safe, and valued. We will not tolerate any instances of racism or marginalization against any members of our community.
To all members of the Manor ISD family: We see you. We are here for you. We want to hear from you. One of the most important actions we can take as a district is to hear your ideas and learn from each other about how to increase justice and opportunity for all of our students.
We also understand that a quick and simple reaction to this renewed spotlight on injustice is not sufficient or effective. We will continue our partnership with the National Alliance for Partners in Equity because we are committed to examining our practices and systems, so that we create equitable opportunities for all students. As a district, we know we do not have all the answers, we humbly request your voices and partnership. We also know there is much work to be done to eliminate racism, and we are committed to doing that work to help build a community and a world that all of our students deserve.
