Second Grade School Supplies List

Because of the limited space in the classroom, we would appreciate if you would NOT purchase any of the following items for your child to bring to school this year: three ring binders, extra school supply boxes, or backpacks on wheels.

The following school supplies SHOULD fit in a fabric zippered pencil pouch. Please be sure to put your child's name on all supplies. Also, write your child's name on the inside and outside of his/her lunchbox.

1 zippered pencil bag
2 boxes of ten #2 pencils (preferably sharpened)
2 packages of pencil top erasers
1 small pencil sharpener (to fit in school box)
1 box of Crayons (a box of 16 OR 24)
3 pens (must write in red)
1 pair of Fiskar scissors (pointed)
1 large bottle of school glue
2 pocket folders (red and yellow)
1 primary composition journal
1 pkg Colored markers (fine or regular tip)
1 watercolor paint set
1 box of tissues
1 backpack (with child's name on it)
Lunch money each day

*About once a month check with your student to see what items need to be replaced.

Additional items needed for the classroom:

Each student should bring the following items for classroom use.

1 Sanitizing wipes (Clorox, Lysol)
1 Water-free hand sanitizer (Germ X, Purell)
1 ream of copy paper (optional)
Ziploc bags (last name A-M quart size)(last name N-Z gallon size)

Music

1 spiral-bound notebook (70 pages) and a pencil (kept in the music room)

Art Supplies

Thank you for sending your student with the following supplies required for art. They will remain in the art room throughout the year. They are in addition to classroom supply lists.

1 Covered pencil sharpener, small enough to fit in pencil pouch

2 Black FINE TIP permanent SHARPIE brand markers, or one FINE TIP and one EXTRA FINE TIP SHARPIE

1 Magic rub or another white vinyl eraser

2 sets of colored markers. These will be a 10 color set or an 8 color set. One box should be classic colors and one box may be Tropical, Bold, or Brite markers. Markers SHOULD NOT be the "PENCIL THIN" size markers

1 Spiral notebook for use as a sketchbook and class notes

1 Soft zippered pencil pouch to hold markers, eraser and sharpener

Please use a black SHARPIE marker to label your student's supplies and pouch with their name and class code. Their class code is their grade number and the first two letters of their teacher's last name; an example would be 1Jo for first grade, Mrs. Johnston. This is the best way to prevent loss.

The second grade teachers at Audubon Elementary School will typically update their school supplies list on a yearly basis, we try to update this list accordingly however we advise you to check with your child's second grade teacher and double check with the school, Audubon Elementary School, to see if there have been any changes to this year's second grade supply list.

A couple of things to keep in mind when ordering your second grade supplies, comsumable school supplies tend to run out long before the school year ends so take advantage of the back to school offers and stock up on the basic supplies, your child's second grade teacher at Audubon Elementary School will thank you for that, and more importantly, your child's presence is the most important thing, the supplies are second to that and your teacher will be more than understanding if you are unable to purchase all of the supplies on the list.
