Go Spartans!
The second grade teachers at Ridgeview Elementary School will typically update their school supplies list on a yearly basis, we
try to update this list accordingly however we advise you to check with your child's second grade teacher and double check with the school, Ridgeview Elementary School, to see if there have been any changes to this year's second grade supply list.
A couple of things to keep in mind when ordering your second grade supplies, comsumable school supplies tend to run out long before the school year ends so take advantage of the back to school
offers and stock up on the basic supplies, your child's second grade teacher at Ridgeview Elementary School will thank you for that, and more importantly, your child's presence is the most important thing, the supplies are second to that and your teacher will
be more than understanding if you are unable to purchase all of the supplies on the list. Have a wonderful, safe and happy school year!
One of the most important pieces of information for you every school year is the Sparta Area Schools District Academic Calendar. There, you will find your child's schedule for the entire school year including holidays, staff development days, half days, testing days, second and last day of school, etc. See the calendar for Sparta Area Schools below.
Covid Update: July 20 2020The Return to School Roadmap retains the six-phase approach and the eight regions created in the MI Safe Start Plan. Under the requirements announced yesterday, schools will be required to develop and post three plans for the fall, depending on what phase of reopening our region of the state is in. These three plans must include:
If region is in Phase 1-3: Fully remote instructional plan
If region is in Phase 4: In-person instruction with strict health and safety protocols
If region is in Phase 5: In-person instruction with more flexible health and safety protocols
These plans must accommodate issues related to instruction, health and safety protocols, mental and social emotional well being, and operations. With regard to health and safety protocols specifically, the Roadmap outlines requirements and recommendations across a variety of areas from personal protective equipment and hygiene to health screening for students and staff to athletics and transportation.
Our region is currently in Phase 4 of the MI Safe Start Plan. While it is impossible to predict what phase our region or county may be in come mid-August, we will begin preparing plans for each scenario. While it is helpful to have this guidance from the state, and we realize everyone is anxious to know what our return to school plans will look like, it will take a few weeks to process and clarify any remaining questions. We want to make sure that we are prepared to welcome our students back to school in the fall, and also offer our parents flexible choices for both face-to face and virtual learning opportunities if desired. It is our hope to complete this process by the end of July, and ask for Board of Education approval at our meeting in early August. The first day of school for students in the fall is currently slated for Tuesday, August 25.
